Plumbing Equipment

Used to place a range of heating and cooling equipments of plumbing sub-discipline. The group provides necessary components of heating and cooling function in plumbing. These equipments are used to manage heat transfer, exchange and flow of substance in plumbing system. They include Boilers, Storage Tanks, Vessels, Water Heaters, Chillers, Heat Exchanger and Condenser.

Schema Properties example - Plant Equipment

Selecting a fitting from the ribbon panel activates the Place Component settings dialog, where you can manage the schema parameters (DG instance properties). Also, the contextual Placement tab appears on the ribbon, that provides placement settings options for the currently selected fitting.

The generic placement settings, along with the unique set of dimensional and data parameters from the datagroup system provide the core workflow used to accurately position mechanical components within a system.

Component categories

The expansion vessels contain a rubber diaphragm which divides the tank in two sections. One side contains a small volume of air, which is compressed so that it is equal and opposite to the water pressure. The other side contains water, which is openly connected to the plumbing system. Beside main inlet and outlet in piping route the rest of the ends of the vessel are connected to respective heating devices and drainage. A catch basin is a part of a storm drain or sewer system which is designed to trap debris so that it cannot enter the drainage pipes. Catch basins are bigger traps used in home drains, sewer and storm drainage systems. Catch basins have a wide sloping inlet which collects runoff, assuring that even when high volumes of water are being dumped into the system, there is minimal overflow. The inlet opens to a pipe which is covered with a grating where large debris are collected, preventing it from entering the piping. Grease Removal Devices (GRDs), such as Grease traps are designed to intercept most greases and solids before they enter a wastewater disposal system. The dosing pots consist of a mild steel vessel with inlet (return) and outlet (flow) valves, a drain valve and a filling valve. A steel tundish, air release valve, wall mounting brackets and a non-return valve. Dosing pots are required in order to feed liquid chemicals such as corrosion inhibitors into closed systems. A shell and tube heat exchanger consists of a shell (a large pressure vessel) with a bundle of tubes inside it, used in higher-pressure applications . One fluid runs through the tubes, and another fluid flows over the tubes (through the shell) to transfer heat between the two fluids. The water heater can be mounted vertical or horizontal.

The heat exchanger and cooling tower units do the heat transfer and condense vapor into liquid an essential unit of heat exchangers of HVAC refrigeration systems for air conditioning of buildings.

Boilers in which water circulates in tubes heated externally by hot gases from fire, hot water or electrically heated water generate steam.

Equipment properties give choice to simply assign the equipment model from the cell library. The cell symbol represents the device geometry. The active Cell Symbol Name generates the five end plumbing equipment as vessel or water heater. The equipment gets place at selected snap points along the duct or pipe.

Those devices in the Equipment group that serve the function of heating and cooling are specific to heat management. They maintain the moisture, and circulate or direct the warm air into a space. The placement takes the current property set in their common properties.

Notable Properties

  • Connection End Type – The end conditions of fittings are set to flange, male or female connections with full dimensional control by setting the End Type property. Also, the two ends are independent, and may have different connections. For example, the value fl-2;fe-.13 creates a flange at End1 with size 2, and a female connection at End2 with a clearance of .13.
  • Cell Symbol Name – Sets model cell from cell library to the component by fitting cell proportionally to extents of device.
  • Mount Type – Sets position for vessel suiting to the design requirement.

    Mount Type: 1.Vertical and 2.Horizontal.

Notable Property Options

Auto Size - Opens the Auto Size Options dialog where the options allow to set the grille type, grille dimensions including the slots.
